Information of Medical Informatics is obtainable from the BMA MIIS, which has been set up to support academics working in the field of medical informatics and to provide information to clinicians who are using IT in their day-to-day practice. There is a wide range of journals on the subject (including Informatics), and a growing number of standard textbooks. Recommendations for additions to both journals and books are welcome. There is also literature from the AIM (Advanced Informatics in Medicine) programme of the EC, as well as many publications from the NHS Information Management Group (IMG), covering all aspects of the IM&T strategy. Other fields covered include the growing literature on medical coding and classification schemes, clinical audit, and contacts of workers in the field of medical informatics. The service is also connected to JANET (Joint Academic Network) and has full access to the resources of the Internet.
